Galamaz says that he preferred to join Steaua instead of joining other teams even though the offers were superior "because here you feel like a real football player".

"You know, i don't really like to talk with the press...". This is how George Galamaz started our talk. His first interview at Steaua is his first way to prove his excellent behaviour on and off the pitch. He is right on time, not even 30 seconds late although his practice just ended.

- George why did you pick Steaua?
- I don't think I'm mistaking when I say that Steaua is the most important team in Romanian football history. I really mean it when I say that no other offers mattered when they called me. I admit that other teams wanted me and that they offered me more money, but I still want to play at a high level. Steaua is that kind of team. They're playing in Europe and they are among the favorites to win the title in Romania.

- What made sign with Steaua?
- I don't think that you need to be convinced by someone to join Steaua. Steaua is a team you simply can't refuse. Even if I had an offer from abroad I still would have picked Steaua!

- Is Steaua's shirt "heavier" than Unirea's?
- I don't know yet, the material seems nice... Seriously, it will be tough because Steaua is a big name and there is a lot of pressure. I assure you that I won't have any problems adapting.

- Do you fear that the other players will envy the group from Unirea?
- I don't know why we are speaking about two groups at Steaua. Me and the other 6 players that ceme from Unirea know Steaua's old players and the guys greeted us well.

- What about the pressure?
- Let me tell you something. I never think about this. If the team will play good everybody will be happy and no one will have something bad to say about us.

- The pressure also comes from the fans...
- Wait! Fan pressure? There's no such thing! At Unirea I could only dream of fans like Steaua has when the stadium is full. When you are watching Steaua's games on TV you really feel the support that the fans give the team. I hope we can make them happy every game. I am always motivated by 25.000 fans pushing me from the back. That's what being a football player is all about.

- Why didn' you adapt at Rapid or Dinamo?
- At Rapid I trained for a long time but they wouldn't let me play. I stayed there for six months. I really just stayed there because I can't say that I really played for them.

- And at Dinamo?
- Well everybody knows what's happening at Dinamo. Problems both on and off the pitch. I wasn't used as a centre back. They wanted me to play in the right side and I couldn't reach my full potential. Dinamo has many problems.

- What happened on Sunday at that final save in Urziceni - Vaslui 2-1 when you headed the ball from the goal line?
- When I'm on the pitch I really want to play my best no mather the I'm playing for or against. No one gave us a chance against Vaslui and they all thought that we had already lost. It felt normal that I would celebrate my save because my team kept the lead and won the match. It didn't matter that I was leaving the club the next day.

- Don't you think that this transfer comes a little bit too late?
- Age is good for performance. I think I made all the good decisions in my career. I didn't skip any steps and this transfer is one of the right decisions I've made in my career.

- Are you dissapointed because you weren't called up for the games against Albania and Belarus?
- I always look on the bright side. I received two more weeks to get to know my new team. I respect Răzvan Lucescu's decision.

- Have you ever wanted to quit football?
- I'm a fighter! When I'm down I fight to get up. I never give up! I was injured for a year at Sportul and for 6 months at Dinamo, but I never wanted to give up.

Galamaz about

... Steaua's fans
"I played many matches on Ghencea and I never had problems with the fans. I think that they will accept me"

... first memory about Steaua
"The team from 1986.  I was only 6 years old when I saw that final. I was really impressed by Duckadam, not by one of the centre defenders. It was normal, i was fascinated by the way he saved four penalties"

... Dan Petrescu
"He helped my career very much and I wish to thank him very much. With him I had my best moments and we shared some great victories"

... the transfer to Steaua
"It's the biggest challenge of my career. Unirea was also a challenge, but this is different. At Steaua your are not the underdog you fight with all the great teams in Europe from the same level"
