The 17th edition of the tournament BCR Open Romania will take place between 19 and 27 September, and the organizers announced, on Monday, that the main favourite of the competition will be the Russian Igor Andreev, number 28 in the ATP classification.
The tournament BCR Open is the last in the ATP circuit which will be disputed on breeze this year and it is the last in Europe which will took place in open-air, and the organizers announced that the total prizes increased up against the last year with 80.000 euro, and in this edition they rise to 450.000 euro.
The main seeded player is Igor Andreev (number 28 in the world), and among the most known participants there are the Spanish Nicolas Almagro (number 35 in the world), the Argentinean Juan Monaco (42), the Italian Andreas Seppi (43), the Spanish Albert Montanes (47), the French Florent Serra (52), the German Simon Greul (70), the Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas (71) or the Italian Simone Bolelli (72).
But we should notice that the winner from the last two editions of this tournament, the French Gilles Simon, won’t be present at this edition.
On the main list of the competition will be also present three Romanians, Victor Hănescu, Victor Crivoi and Andrei Pavel, and for the last one this will be the last tournament in Romania, because he will go into retirement from the professional circuit at the end of this year.
Organizatorul BCR Open România, Bogdan Enoiu, a spus că se aşteapă la un turneu cu mult tenis de calitate: "Cred că vom avea un turneu interesant, pentru că sunt prezenţi jucători valoroşi, iar toţi îşi doresc foarte mult punctele puse în joc în acest an".
