Bebe is 9 years old and he befriended with his idol when this one was made the ambassador of the program SOS Children's Villages
Bebe is 9 years old and he is part of the program SOS Children's Villages. He lives with his three brothers in the campus from Calea Floreasca. His name is not Bebe, this is just a nickname, but we won't go into details in order to protect him. Just like the other children from that place he was taken by the authorities from their families which didn't take care of him.
When they brought him here he was still in swaddles; that is why he is called Bebe. "Please say, what is your name, Bebe and what?” He smiles: "Chivu". Cristi is his idol; this is the way he arrived in the pages of Gazeta, in a picture with the captain of the national football team when this one was named the ambassador of the program SOS Children's Villages. Yesterday he received the present sent by Chivu: one of the balls from the match Romania-France.
"That's the point.."
Bebe does not conceive life without the ball, he is crazy about football. Because of the traumas from the childhood he spoke very late, when he was almost five. If you take him quickly he shrinks into himself, he frightens. But if you speak about football he becomes immediately voluble.
Sometimes he is doubtful: "Bebe, show us how you shoot the goal".”Who", me? He asks and he follows suit involuntary the inflections from Mother Valeria's voice, the social mother who brought him up. When he saw Chivu, Two weeks ago, he didn't have any emotion. He still revisualizes those moments: "Bebe, what did you asked Cristi?” He puts his finger in the air and answers mysteriously: "Well, that's the point, I didn't ask him, he asked me. What team I like, what I like to play "And what did you answer?" That I like Steaua and I want to be a defendant and that I like him very much". "Ok, but Chivu is a halfback at the national football team, not a defendant". He raises his eyes indignantly, which means that he is informed: "At Inter he is full-back".
The professional
Bebe agrees to present his room, his bureau, a few pictures with football players. Common furniture, a few toys, a trial of creating a universe he had never had. On a sheet of paper he writes an autograph which must be kept, who knows how much it will value in a few years. But he is in a hurry; he doesn’t want to be late on the ground.
"At 15:00 a teacher comes to train us for football.” says and clasps the ball and he runs away. The firm voice of the teacher makes him stop. He tried to say a “good bye", then he runs away again to the bitumen ground. It’s 14:48. The kid is a professional, but he doesn’t know this yet.
Where the children come from
The boys and the girls from the campus situated in Calea Floreasca, but also from the other location of SOS Children’s Villages are brought from all over the country. The authorities take them from their families which do not have money to bring them up or, in worse cases, they abuse them or they beat them. They are alone here or with their brothers and sisters and they live in houses where they try to rebuild the family atmosphere.
