And thea reaction of the team was excellent. Steaua forgot that the score was 1-0 for Liverpool, forgot that no Romanian team has ever scored on Anfield and started to put pressure on the home side. Stancu started to show his class and gave a wonderful pass for Cristi Tanase, just like former Romanian star Adrian Ilie used to. It was then that Anfield was silenced. Steaua's fans dominated in the stands supporting the Romanian team. Steau was dominatig the pitch and was pushing the game towards Pepe Reina's goal. Kapetanos pushed the Spaniard to his limits, but he was caught offside.

Help from the referee
Steaua continued to put pressure on the English side, but started to make some mistakes in the defence. Tătăruşanu made once again a great match and saved his team on many ocassions. Joe Cole, Maxi Rodriguez and Babel couldn't beat him. Liverpool started very confident the second half. Ilie started to feel that his players were starting to lose ground and made a radical change. He substituted Anghelov and brought in Bonfim as a right defender. Nicolita regained his position on the right side of the midfield, while Radut took Anghelov's place next to Bicfalvi.

Steaua was immediatly executed. The referee saw a foul on a contact between Kapetanos and Kyrgiagos and gave a penalty. Ngog didn't miss and Liverpool was in the lead. Tănase missed an incredible chance. He passed Kyrgiakos and was one on one with the goalkeeper, but couldn't manage to keep his concentration and shot wide. Steaua played a good game, but Liverpool was the one who took all the points.

Record
Steaua's debute in the new Europa League season set a new record: the fastest goal ever in Europe. Joe Cole scored in the 28th second, when Abdrudan passed poorly to Tatarusanu.
