Steaua defeated last night Vasas Budapesta with 2-0 in a match in which it used two different systems. The first 45 minutes was a total fiasco, but in the second half, with Tănase in a great shape, Steaua dominated and played at a very high level
For the first friendly match of the second training camp, Steaua has chosen an adversary well-known in the history of football in Hungary, but modest in this moment. Vasas Budapesta, the occupant of the 10th place at the end of the tournament, but with many titles and trophies obtained until the end of the 70’s.
Stoichiţă surprised by modifying the system used in the other two friendly matches played in the first training camp. He passed from 4-4-2 to 3-4-3. He played this way in the first half, and then he changed again and in the second half he passed again to 4-4-2. What are the conclusions after two halfs in two different systems?
THE SYSTEM 3-4-3 was marked with 4
1. Weak defense
Stoichiţă has titles two central defenders from the team left to Antalya, but two of them didn’t pass the test in the first half. Baciu started the match with a big mistake, passing straight to the adversary, but Tătăruşanu avoided the goal. Then it was transformed in a pole by a forward, but Steaua got away with it again. Not even Tudose excelled, being the target of the critics made by Stoichiţă. Only Jelev was unhesitating in a system in which Steaua felt very uncomfortable, being dominated by a limited team.
2. Inexistent attack
Even if on the paper it seemed an offensive team, Steaua didn’t make anything in the attack! Andrei Ionescu played probably for the first time as forward on the right side, while Stancu and Surdu struggled in vain, because they didn’t posses the object of their work and they also seemed to be discomfortable of the position they had.
3. Only Bănel made his job
As Tudela plays too simple and he didn’t make anything, and Toja had to dribble by himself, Nicoliţă kept Steaua alive in the first half. He ran probably at least 6-7 kilometers, he played on the whole right side and he had the only appearances in the attack ended with passes and shots at the goalpost.
0 occasions for goals created Steaua in the first half of the match, while Vasas Budapesta had 3 occasions to score
THE SYSTEM 4-4-2 was marked with 10
In the break, Stoichiţă changed not only the system, but also the players. Only Jelev, Baciu, Ovidiu Petre and Nicoliţă remained on the field, and the game changed entirely.
1. Tănase makes the entire game
Thge player from Piteşti starts to show why Becali paid on him 1,8 million. When he had the ball at his foot, he made havoc among the adversaries; he scored a euro goal with a perfect pass from 20 de meters, a cornerwise on the right side of the goalkeeper, and he opened and cleared always Steaua’s game. He was close also another time to score a fabulous goal, but his semi-scissors from 12 meters went grazing with the transversal (80).
2. Kapetanos, applauded by MM
With "Kape" on the field, Steaua started to advance the game and to matter in the adverse box. In the 50th minute, the Greek had shot over after a phase at which works Szekely and Tănase, then he scored after a phase in which he took the ball on the chest and he shot unstoppable from "drop", an execution which made Mihai Stoica, the manager from Urziceni, who was on the stand, to applaud with everybody on the stadium.
3. Szekely and Bănel, unstoppable on the both sides
If they had been last night at the match, the brothers Karamian would have to think very serious about this. Why? Because Szekely on the right side and Bănel on the left side played almost perfect and they defeated a team that couldn’t resist anymore in front of Steaua. The first goal left from Nicoliţă’s boot, the second came from Szekely’s pass.
4. At the middle, the key is Pleşan
In the first part, Ovidiu Petre seemed to be hesitating near Tudela. In the second part, having Pleşan near him, he played well. Mihăiţă closed all the ways and he climbed decisively on the offensive side, seemed to be the jolly-joker in Steaua’s game at the centre of the field.
5 occasions of goal created Steaua in the last 45 minutes, besides the two goals, while the adversaries didn’t give even a single shot at the goalpost
