Carmen Amariei seemed to be the most affected of the failure against Spain. She lay down for a lot of minutes on the floor of the hall from Suzhou and she cried her eyes out.
At 31 years old, the World Championship from China could be the last in her career for Carmen Amariei. She knew this thing and that’s why she wanted very much to win a medal. She made a good game against Spain, but in the end she concluded crying her eyes out. At the press conference she came with the eyes red because of so much cry.
- Carmen, what happened, you ruled the game with 25-23 and there were four minutes left. Did you consider yourselves winners too early?
- No, we didn’t. The decision of eliminating Mihaela Tivadar was made too fast I think. It meant a lot for us and the final was a nightmare.
- Was the pressure too big?
- I don’t know. We wanted so much to win. We established to play so that we won’t feel sorry later. But exactly this thing happened, we are looking behind with regret and we feel sorry now. But this is sport, you win today and you lose tomorrow.
- This will be your last World Championship?
- It would be a decision made in the heat of the moment and I don’t want to talk about this now. We are still in the competition. Maybe I will answer to this question at the end.
